MEMBERS of High Peak's community and voluntary sector organisations will have the chance to question High Peak's parliamentary candidates.

High Peak CVS working with the Voice Project and the Uniting Church, Whaley Bridge, will hold an Election Question Time next Wednesday, April 21 from 6pm-8pm at the Uniting Church.

Kevin Skingsley, Chief Executive, High Peak CVS, said: "I know local groups will want to take this opportunity to ask the questions that matter to them about their future role and resourcing."

The event will provide an opportunity to find out more about the policies which will affect community and voluntary organisations within the High Peak. The three main parties' election commitments to the voluntary sector can be viewed at www.navca.org.uk/news/electionarticles.htm.

To book your voluntary sector place and to send in your question contact: Claire Thornber, Voice of the VCS Project Officer, on 07827 243800 or email c.thornber@ruralactionderbyshire.org.uk.

Questions need to be forwarded at least four working days before the event. This will help to timetable the session ensuring that everyone gets to ask their question and give the candidates some preparation time.

The Voice for the VCS project aims to increase the voluntary sector's understanding of policies which affect them.

  • On Thursday April 22, the Conservatives, Labour, Liberal Democrat and Green Party candidates will attend a public meeting organised by Buxton Amnesty International group at 7.30pm at the Grove Hotel in Buxton. UKIP candidate Sylvia Hall is unable to attend.

Open to those with an interest in human rights the candidates will face questions on key concerns.
