Ray first won his seat in 2003 and was re-elected with an increased vote in 2007. Apart from his major work to bring stability and fairness to High Peak Borough and New Mills Town Council finances, he also served as one of the High Peak Borough's leading Executive Team members - in charge of monitoring the performance of the Council's various departments.
High Peak Borough Councillor - New Mills West Ward - elected in May 2003 - Chairman of the Environment Select Committee and also served on the Corporate Select Committee.
