HIGH Peak's Parliamentary Candidates are set to take part in question time style-debates and be grilled by members of the public in the run-up to the General Election which will be held on May 6

The five candidates - Labour's Caitlin Bisknell, the Conservatives' Andrew Bingham, the Liberal Democrats' Alistair Stevens, the United Kingdom Independence Party's Sylvia Hall and the Green Party's Peter Allen - have agreed to make time to answer questions on subjects of concern to local voters.

To help ensure that a broad range of topics is covered - from the economy, the environment, climate change and immigration to education, employment, health and poverty - questions need to be lodged in advance.

The first event will take place at Saint John's Church, Buxton, at 11am on April 24.

Gerry Northam, a regular contributor to Radio Four's File on Four and BBC One's Panorama, will be chairing the debate.

Meanwhile, the second event will take place at the Revival Church, High Street, New Mills, at 7.30pm on April 27.

Brian Westhead, a New Mills' resident and a church member, will be in the chair.

To send questions for the event in Buxton, contact Malcolm Heyward at 129 Lightwood Road, Buxton, SK17 6RW or email mandmheyward@tiscali.co.uk

For the gathering in new Mills, contact Michael Brueck at 28 Saint George's Road, New Mills, SK22 4JT or email mjbrueck@live.co.uk

The questions should be in before April 20.
