ELECTION 2010 - Borough election

IT was success for the Liberal Democrats in the High Peak Borough Council by-election for the New Mills West Ward.

They retained the seat with Janet Carter securing a 172 majority over the Conservatives. There was a 71.3 per cent turnout.

Results:

Alan Barrow, Labour, 504

Hazel Body, Green Party, 218

Janet Carter, Liberal Democrat, 819 (Elected)

Lance Dowson, Independent, 235

Jacqui Gadd, Conservative, 647.

The vacant seat on New Mills Town Council has gone to Hazel Body who was elected unopposed.
