Valley stages a classic

Alistair Stevens and High Peak Liberal Democrats manning their stand at Hope Show

THIS year's Hope Show provided a Bank Holiday spectacular on Monday. The annual show saw a return of all its traditional favourites including the livestock show, vintage cars and tractors, dog trials and the dancing JCB digger that wowed crowds at last years event. High Peak Liberal Democrats stand attracted the crowds throughout the day.

Ian Randall, the show's President, said: "This year we have put on a brilliant show, one which was much better than we have been able to put on for many years. During preparations, when it was windy and raining, we thought we were going to be washed out but instead we staged a classic show with some classic exhibits."

The livestock section saw a wide variety of cattle and sheep but on show whilst the sheepdogs and gun dogs were put through their paces in a series of trials.

There was also a range of horse show events and a whole host of other attractions including a number of crafts tents.

Mr Randall added: "The important thing of course is that everybody who came enjoyed it and the show really was the Hope Valley at it's very best. The standard was so high this year that it's impossible to pick one star from amongst a whole host of stars as being the brightest."
