High Peak Liberal DemocratsVOTERS across the High Peak have been urged to look out for a form that they will need to fill in to ensure they do not lose their voice on the issues that matter to them.
The plea was made by High Peak Mayor Graham Oakley who said completion of the annual voter registration form was essential to voting in next May's council elections and in a potential referendum on the voting system for the UK Parliament.
The Borough Council will be sending forms to households to compile the Electoral Register for the local authority elections on Thursday, May 5 and for the proposed UK referendum.
Councillor Oakley said: "Registering to vote is simple, quick and easy.
."And if your details haven't changed, you can also reply by 'phone or e-mail.
"This year's General Election was very high profile and we were pleased with the increase in registration shortly before polling day.
"However, some people may not realise that they have to register every year.
"By completing the annual canvass form that comes through your door, you can rest assured that your vote next year will be guaranteed," he stressed.
