High Peak Liberal DemocratsTuition fees is getting everyone talking. As you will see four articles have been forwarded today and David Walker commented as follows:
"I don't want to bore but I saw the article in yesterday's Independent on Sunday which confirms that the government was advised by it's own department that it may only get back one quarter the money expended on tuition fees.
And more significantly - it will cost £10 billion in the first years (£6 billion more than at present).
Also worrying was their definition of 'interest free' which apparently means that only 3% plus RPI will be added to the debt annually.
I can understand the RPI part but surely the +3% is what everyone else calls interest?
The IoS website has letters on this subject in response to this article many of which favour your original idea of a 'Graduate Tax'
