An East Midlands MEP shamelessly wastes our tax money in a bid for self promotion of irrational views

East Midlands constituents may have noticed a new addition to their local scenery. A series of giant posters are blotting the landscape. The posters are adorned with Roger Helmer declaring green climate policies are, "unnecessary" "ineffectual" and "expensive". This sees another episode in Helmer's personal crusade against saving the planet and against the science of climate change, this time at a cost to the taxpayer of £9,000.

Commenting on the posters, Bill Newton Dunn Liberal Democrat MEP for the East Midlands said,

"I deplore Roger Helmer's use of East Midlands taxpayers' money on these posters. To spend £9,000 on a personal vendetta against serious science shows complete disregard for the people of the East Midlands"

"Roger Helmer is contradicting leading scientists in the field of climate change research. Human activity on this planet is contributing to climate change, it's simply being contrary to argue otherwise. And even if there is disagreement on the extent to which human activity speeds up climate change, we must at least take steps to ensure the sustainability of the planet's environment for future generations"

"It certainly does not mean burdening East Midlanders with a propaganda campaign of these proportions, which distorts rational debate"

Even Roger Helmer's own party, the ECR, respect the science of professors leading in their fields of research. An ECR Spokesman has distanced the party from Roger Helmer's posters, as have the Conservative Party in the UK.

Bill summed up , "Helmer's out on his own on this issue, even the parties he is a member of have distanced themselves from his personal views. His argument is nonsensical, and he shouldn't be spending our money on these abominable posters!"
