SNOW PLOUGH PROVES A HIT FOR NEW MILLS

February 4, 2011 9:38 AM

Cllr Alistair Stevens and friends with the New Mills snow ploughNew Mills Town Council helped mitigate the effects of the snow during December when they borrowed a snow plough from a local haulage firm to help in their efforts to keep the side roads clear. This has proved so effective that the Council have invested in a snow plough attachment for the parks tractor. This ensures that in future they will be ready to help the residents of New Mills when the snow comes again.

Liberal Democrat Parks and Leisure Chairman Alistair Stevens praised the Council staff for their hard work throughout the big freeze, and he felt the new piece of equipment would help provide cover to the County and Borough Councils who's ability to continue to provide an effective service will be put under pressure with the expected Government cuts over the next few years.
