A longer parking time on Market Street and changes on High Street were requested by County Councillor Beth Atkins and she welcomed their implemention.
Beth acted after the previous Labour administration at County Hall had privatised parking enforcement and over-zealous wardens had caused problems for shops and residents alike. Beth then called for an hour's free parking in the town centre - to enable people to carry out basic business.
News of these changes led to requests to Beth by concerned businesses for Union Road to fall in line with the parking regulations on Market Street
She asked the County Council for changes for Union Road . Now that the consultation period is over - and as there was strong support for the
one hour parking request she expects to hear that the new period for Union Road will be implemented in the near future.
