High Peak Liberal DemocratsYES! campaigners from all the main parties gathered in Soho, London yesterday to encourage LGBT voters to support the change to the Alternative Vote in Thursday's referendum.
A giant rainbow YES placard contrasted with a sea of purple balloons and teeshirts - the colour that in LGBT circles we most associate with bisexuality, but also adopted by electoral reform campaigners.
LGBT Lib Dems exec member Jen Yockney said, "Regardless of which party you support, AV gives you a better chance to express your preferences - and it helps keep out the kind of extremist politics that could roll back some of the positive legal changes on lesbian, gay, bi and trans equality of recent years."
