"I have prepared this article as I know that many of you are interested in the future of our town. As I am sure you are aware, the District Council has drawn a map showing sites all around Southwell where it is suggesting that there will be building and development over the next few years.

The 'consultation' on this only lasts until November 25 [10 days longer than they originally said] and it is very important that full responses are made.

You can see the proposals on the District Council's website here.

I have written my response and this can be downloaded here as a word document. You are welcome to use parts of this if you wish, in responding to the District Council. The draft response is also on the Town Forum's website and on my blog and website

This reflects views from across the town, but many voices will need to be heard, as the District Council is not known for listening to the concerns of residents. The Town Forum is debating this next Tuesday at 18h00 in the Old Court House, and the Town Council will be finalising its response the week after this.

Unfortunately, the way in which the District Council is asking for electronic responses is clunky, and unresponsive. I would strongly suggest that you write directly rather than use their web-based reply form -

Please copy me into your response -
