Congratulations - Towcester double success leaves Torys stunned

If you haven't heard it already we won both the by elections in Towcester tonight leaving the local Conservatives stunned at the size of their defeat.

County Seat - Chris Lofts Lib Dem 1279 61%

Con 638
BNP 66
Turnout 29.3% 

LD gain from Con

Towcester Brook - Lisa Samiotis Lib Dem 774 59.4%

Con 401 30%

Chris Lofts and Lisa Samiotis took the Towcester seat on Northamptonshire County Council and the third seat in Brook ward in Towcester. 

It couldn't have happened without so many of you who took the time to deliver leaflets and knock doors in all weathers. 

We have been stunned at the level of support with delivers and canvassers coming from Chesterfield, Nottingham, Oxford and Bedford to name but a few and every corner and party in Northamptonshire.

We owe you all so much. They said it couldn't be done but we did it and by a massive margin.

The comment of the night though has to be shared between Chris Lofts and his defeated Tory opponent.

Whilst Chris spelt out that "the people of Towcester had spoken and the political parties in Towcester should listen" the defeated candidate told the press "it was a bad day in the office, but a great night for the coalition!!"

Thanks have to go to a couple of people we couldn't have done it without, obviously the candidates but also Stuart Bray & Mike Quinn who have advised and worked with us to make this happen.

If I've missed anyone then thanks to those too. Its been a long day but a great night.
 
I think I've probably said enough for now but its been a great night thanks to hard work, a strong team and a desire and belief that we will prevail (and we did).
