Towcester Brook - Lisa Samiotis Lib Dem 774 59.4%

LD gain from Con
Chris Lofts and Lisa Samiotis took the Towcester seat on Northamptonshire County Council and the third seat in Brook ward in Towcester.

A great result - yesterday was an excellent day and what stood out was the massive sense of "Team Together" and the excellent co-ordination from the committee room.

Obviously two stupendous results and congratulations to those involved. But as we are not riding that high (yet!) in the opinion polls I assume there were some special local factors at work here. Can someone involved enlighten us all further?

Yes, there were special local factors. Two excellent local candidates backed by a local Lib Dem team fighting an excellent local campaign based upon local issues and delivering focuses all year round, not just at election time.
An outgoing Tory councillor who moved to Cornwall after having allowed £3,000 of taxpayers money to be spent on an oil painting of herself merely helped boost our majority.
