County Councillor Michael Wyatt who represents Greenhill and Bardon has today attacked the newly published Core Strategy by North West Leicestershire District Council, calling it a recipe for disaster, and a developers' charter, which is full of loose ends and empty promises.

Cllr Wyatt has expressed his anger at the decision by the Tory Council to undermine the efforts by local residents who have been campaigning for decades to finally see the Bardon By-Pass built. The report says," there is no strategic highway case for a relief road". Cllr Wyatt totally disagrees with these comments and questions the case being put forward against any by-pass for the local area.

Cllr Wyatt said, "This so called Core Strategy is nothing but a developers charter, which is full of empty promises and loose ends. To remove the Bardon By-Pass from the plans is nothing but a recipe for disaster, and a massive kick in the teeth to the hundreds of local people who already find it a daily struggle to use the busy A511. I only hope members will think again and back my amendment, which I have already submitted to make sure the Bardon Relief Road remains in the plan so the developers have to contribute in making sure we have the right local road infrastructure."
