It is with great regret that we have to report the death of John Turner of Bardney on Sunday, 15 April.

We would be extremely grateful if you would pass this message on to fellow Liberal Democrat members who may have known John during his long association with the party.

John was at one of his favourite places - the local car boot sale - when he sadly was taken from us. From what we hear, his passing was very quick and would have been his preferred way to go. His health of late had not been good; however that was not something that was going to put a stop to his many activities. We last saw him the previous Thursday and had our usual weekly chat - and managed as usual to put almost everything in the world right.

John Turner represented the Bardney Ward of the West Lindsey District Council for nine years. During that time he served with distinction the post as Chairman of the District Council for two terms.

He was also, for several years, the Chairman of the Gainsborough Constituency Liberal Democrats, taking an active part in Association activities. His professional knowledge in valuing items being sold in the local Lib Dems large jumble sales was much appreciated.

A friend and guiding light to all those who new him, he will be very much missed.

The funeral will take place on 9th May, 1pm at Bardney church
