High Peak Liberal DemocratsLast Saturday 22nd June local MP Mark Hunter officially opened this year's Bramhall Festival, speaking from the Imagine FM Marquee to the many local residents who had turned out for this well established local celebration. Despite the poor weather, as usual the Bramhall community turned out in force to support the festival.
Mr Hunter was also on the judging panel which was put together to pick the most impressive local group in the parade through the village. Mark also joined two highly decorated service veterans - Captain Robert James Robinson aged 88 of the Royal Irish Fusiliers and First Lt Norman Harris aged 92 of the Gordon Highlanders (TA) - regulars at the annual festival!
Commenting at the event, Mark said:
"This is a popular event on the local calendar and I was very pleased to see hundreds of local residents to attend the opening ceremony and cheer on those taking place in the annual parade.
"There was stiff competition from a large number of local schools, businesses and community organisations who took part in the parade and my congratulations go to the winners!
"I'd also like to thank and congratulate all of the organisers and volunteers - particularly local traders - who worked so hard to make Bramhall Festival possible!"
