A Liberal Democrat branch has won an award at the party's conference in Brighton.
The Dadabhai Naoroji Award, for the branch that demonstrated a record of achievement in promoting diversity through ethnic minority representation, went to Leicester.
Parmjit Singh Gill, chairman of the party in the city, said: "It's a fantastic achievement, not just for Leicester Liberal Democrats but also for the city, reflecting the strength of diversity that exists in its many quarters.
"Leicester is recognised as the multi-cultural capital of the UK and is host to the largest Indian community outside of London.
"This was a significant factor in the Queen deciding to commence her Jubilee tour from this home of diversity with communities that have roots from all over the world."
