Paul Varnsverry, Liberal Democrat Police and Crime Commisioner candidate for Northamptonshire commented today on the number of tweets by officers of Northamptonshire Police reporting road traffic collisions (RTCs):
"Just 36 hours after the clocks went back and on only the first working day of GMT, officers repeatedly tweeted how they had been called to attend one RTC after another.
"The Tory street light switch-off is a failed, dangerous policy. The Tory candidate was an assistant director at Northamptonshire County Council and policy adviser to the Conservative cabinet throughout the decision-making processes which resulted in speed cameras being switched off, streetlights being switched off and £500,000 of funding for PCSOs being cut. ...
"All of these decisions are disastrous for the safety of Northamptonshire's residents and visitors. I have already said that I will call for streetlights to be switched back on, PCSO funding to be reinstated and a review of safety cameras.
"A vote for me on November 15th will be a vote for a Northamptonshire where we can all feel Safer On Our Streets and Safer In Our Homes."
