High Peak Liberal DemocratsLast Friday 9th November local MP Mark Hunter and Cheadle and Gatley Councillor Pam King volunteered in the Sue Ryder Care Shop, Gatley, as part of the volunteering charity CSV's (Community Service Volunteers) "make a difference" campaign.
Store Manager, Suzie Wenham, introduced Mark and Pam to local volunteer, Vera, and showed them a number of the day to day duties of local volunteers such as cleaning and pricing items and then arranging them for display in the relevant sections.
On the visit Mr Hunter paid tribute to the hundreds of local volunteers at local charity shops across the area.
Commenting, Mark said:
"It was a pleasure to do my bit to help promote this excellent volunteering initiative and get involved in the work of the Sue Ryder Care shop in Gatley.
"Local charity shops rely on the good will of hundreds of residents, selflessly donating their time and energy to help a range of good causes.
"The CSV "Make a Difference" project draws our attention to the sheer scale of volunteering across the country. In our area, we are lucky that so many people choose to help out in this way."
Commenting at a recent campaigns event in the House of Commons:
"I am encouraging MPs and people of all ages to take part in CSV Make a Difference Day to share their career skills and personal hobbies, as well as making local communities thriving and happy places."
