The Broom Leys Community Allotment Society in The Warrenhills Ward of North West Leicestershire as been successful in their bid for a further £10,000 to help provide further facilities at the new allotment facility in Greenhill.
The Society's bid was for a composting facility, a fruit and nut orchard and a compost toilet to allow children and disabled growers to utilise the allotment.
Chairman of the Society, County Councillor Michael Wyatt said, "I am delighted that we have been successful in our bid to expand on the facilities we are already providing. Making sure all sections of the community can take part in growing their own produce is extremely important to me.
Having these extra facilities will also help us to reduce our carbon footprint and give local children and disabled groups the opportunity to take part."
