Hidden below the Headlines
I wanted to share with you a few things you might not have read in the papers about the Autumn Statement -
1) That from next April, most people will be paying nearly £600 a year less in Income Tax than they were under Labour. That's thanks to the Liberal Democrats
2) That Conservative calls to cut £10billion from welfare, freeze benefits and abolish housing benefits for under 25s did not form part of the Autumn Statement. That's thanks to the Liberal Democrats
3) That because Liberal Democrats secured the triple lock guarantee - ensuring that every year the State Pension will rise by the highest of inflation, rise in earnings or 2.5% - the full state pension will go up by 2.5% in April 2013. Pensioners on the full state pension will now be £650 a year better off than they were under Labour. That's thanks to the Liberal Democrats.

Now we know that yesterday was far from all good news. The economic situation we inherited from Labour makes every one of these days difficult. In a Coalition Government, deals have to be struck and compromises made.
But I'm glad that there are Liberal Democrats in this Government fighting for ordinary people - rather than a majority Conservative Government free to pursue its own policies and priorities.
Thank you again for your support.
Best wishes,
Lorely Burt MP
