When the representatives of sections Leicestershire Business were invited to a Q&A with Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg MP, they surely can't have anticipated just how open and wide ranging the discussion would be.
Staged at a major hotel and chaired by Zuffar Haq, Nick Clegg took questions and spoke with the audience for about 40 minutes. East Midlands Regional Policy Officer - Phil Knowles was at the event. Phil was full of praise and admiration for the Deputy PM for the way he answered questions and importantly, how Nick Clegg had listened to the many points made by people at the sharp end of business. Phil also took the opportunity to warmly congratulate Zuffar Haq and all who had helped to organise the event.
'' There is no substitute for hearing directly from those who are impacted upon by the decisions made by government at all and any level. Nick listened to reaction, questions, aspirations and ideas from the audience. I have known him for quite some time and as always he gave the fullest and most open responses. The guests I spoke with after the event were delighted to have had the opportunity to come along and were very positive about the whole event. They really felt that it had been time well spent, a valuable, enjoyable and unique opportunity.''
