MARK HUNTER GETS A GRILLING AT GREENBANK

There was no hiding place for Cheadle M.P. Mark Hunter when he faced a grilling from Greenbank Preparatory School's young inquisitors.

Mr Hunter spent an hour helping Greenbank Year 5 pupils with their project on Cheadle Hulme, answering questions both on constituency matters and his life in Westminster.

Among the topics the political pundits wanted to debate were: "Why are there so many empty shops in Cheadle Hulme precinct?" "What is the least interesting part of your job?" And most importantly "Have you ever met the Queen?"

Mr Hunter said:

"It was a pleasure to visit Greenbank Primary again, this time for a meeting with the Year 5 pupils.

"I always enjoy visiting local schools - the enthusiasm and energy of our youngsters never ceases to amaze me.

"Some of the questions were brilliant - one or two of them would give Jeremy Paxman a run for his money!"

Greenbank Preparatory School Headmistress Janet Lowe added:

"It is often said that young people feel increasingly alienated by politics, but at Greenbank our boys and girls are interested in both local and national issues. And it certainly helps to fire their enthusiasm when their M.P. Takes time out to discuss their concerns in detail."
