Liberal Democrats are making High Speed Rail a reality.
Today the Coalition has announced its plans for Phase Two of Britain's High Speed Rail Network.
This project will halve journey times between some of our major cities, boosting jobs and growth throughout the country, especially in the North. It also means an end to too many trains squeezed onto too little railway.
All this on top of the the biggest investment in rail since the Victorian era.
The Liberal Democrats were the first political party to come out in favour of High Speed Rail. It's a key priority for Liberal Democrats in Government.
It's not just good for growth - it's also great for the environment. When it's built HS2 will ease congestion and cut pollution by transferring around 9m journeys from road to rail and 4.5m from air to rail.
