February 1, 2013 11:09 AM
Andrew Stunell MP encourages all new and growing businesses in Stockport to take advantage of the Government funded Mentoring scheme.
Commenting, Andrew said -
"Stockport is the business start-up centre of the North West, with a record number of new businesses started last year. This new mentoring scheme means they can use some of the top brains in their business to work out a business plan, avoid the elephant traps and prosper and grow."
"If you've got a new business idea it is well worthwhile using Get Mentoring to help you do the heavy lifting in the first critical year of operation. I'm delighted that this expanded scheme is ready to help locally, and I look forward to hearing feedback from satisfied users in the months ahead."
Businesses across the UK can now access one-to-one support through a national network of 27,000 mentors. This includes 15,000 volunteer mentors who have joined the 12,000 mentors already available through 115 mentoring organisations on mentorsme.co.uk .
The volunteer mentors were recruited and trained through Get Mentoring, a project funded by the UK government throughout 2012. The volunteers have pledged to offer the equivalent of an hour a month of mentoring for two years.
The Minister of State for Business and Enterprise said -
"Mentoring is a vital part of starting and growing a business and thanks to our national recruitment drive, there is now a network of over 27,000 new and existing business mentors across the country accessible through the portal. Wherever you are, there is now a business mentor near you"
