Breaking News suggesting East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) U Turn on Ambulance Station ClosuresA report emerging in the last 48 hours is suggesting that EMAS are to make a U Turn on the proposal to close a number of Stations across the East Midlands. Regional Policy Officer Phil Knowles has been at the front of the campaign to save the facility in Harborough and has welcomed the news.
''We put forward a strong and we felt well reasoned argument to save the station. I felt that there were major question marks about the closure proposal put forward by EMAS -a proposal that suggested the case for improvements to response times and efficiency by closing the Harborough Unit. I felt it was unproven. I am delighted that the report indicates that the arguments we put forward on behalf of the community has been listened to and there looks to be a U turn that will see the Ambulance Station saved and I would hope even improved. Harborough continues to grow and I encourage the endorsement of this report.''
