Lib Dem Leader on Harborough District Council Phil Knowles and Deputy Leader Sarah Hill are urging the public in Harborough and surrounding villages to stand firm in opposition to the dumping of 1800 homes onto Airfield Farm and not to accept any plan muted for a secondary figure of 1500.
Phil Knowles and Sarah Hill said, "The figure was 1000 homes on Airfield Farm. Without formal and meaningful consultation the Conservative Controlled Executive ramped the figure up to between 1500 and 1800. We said then that the infrastructure could not cope and the town and surrounding villages would be swamped. We called in the decision but they refused to listen. We believe the decision to dump so many homes on Harborough was wrong then and it's wrong now. If the Executive and those who served on it at the time are confident of their case, then don't just pay lip service, let's have the extra homes included in Local Plan review. This means proper consultation and a public inquiry to decide the matter."
