High Peak Liberal Democrats
On Tuesday 2nd April senior Lib Dem MP and Government Minister Norman Lamb will officially launch the Liberal Democrat campaign for the County Council elections on May 2nd in Hinckley
The Liberal Democrats are the main opposition to the Conservatives on the County Council and are seeking to exploit splits within the ruling Conservative group and the recent scandals that have dogged the administration for the past few years.
Speaking ahead of the launch Lib Dem group leader Simon Galton said, "The Liberal Democrats have a strong track record of holding the County Council to account over the past few years and we hope to make progress in the elections in May. Currently we control two district councils with in the county both of which have excellent records of delivering for local people while keeping council tax low. People across Leicestershire have a clear choice on May 2nd. A fresh start with the Liberal Democrats, or more Tory sleeze and failure. Labour only have four county councillors across Leicestershire and are out the race this time.
Liberal Democrats have put together a comprehensive manifesto full of fresh new ideas to restore the reputation of the county council and deliver for the people of Leicestershire".
As well as launching the manifesto Norman Lamb will be paying tribute to the excellent work of the excellent rated Lib Dem Borough Council in Hinckley & Bosworth and will be joining local activists taking their message to people of the area.
Lib Dem Parliamentary Candidate Michael Mullaney said, "It is a great pleasure to welcome Norman to the constituency. This will be the third high profile Ministerial visit to the constituency in recent months.
I look forward to meeting him, and telling him about our positive message of working and showing him some of the work we do for Hinckley & Bosworth all year round"
