High Peak Liberal DemocratsHazel Grove MP Andrew Stunell is calling for parents to come forward and take up the Coalition Government's latest child-care offer.
Announced last month, close to 600 of the poorest toddlers in Stockport will benefit from 15 hours free childcare a week from this September, an investment of nearly £3,000 per child.
Andrew Stunell MP today urged parents in Stockport to find out if their two-year-old is eligible.
Commenting, Andrew Stunell MP said:
"Liberal Democrats want to create a fairer society by making sure every child has the best possible start in life. Studies show that investment in early years' education makes a significant difference to a child's life chances and will help children reach their full potential. I want to make sure that no child in Stockport misses out so I'd encourage all parents to find out if their toddler is eligible."
Parents can find out if their child is eligible by contacting either their local nursery provider or Stockport Council (0161 217 6111). These places will initially be targeted on children from families receiving an out-of-work benefit and those who are looked after by Stockport Council.
