Fixed term contract (to May 2017 latest)
Grade 11 (£29,295 - up to - £31,629 per annum 37 Hours per week)
Part of the Democratic Services Section, you will research, evaluate and analyse issues of interest to the Liberal Democrat Group. You will be required to prepare reports and briefing notes on national, regional, local and European topics and support Liberal Democrat group members in their capacity as county councillors particularly assisting with case work. You will also be required to attend and administer Liberal Democrat Group meetings.
Ideally with a degree or equivalent qualification, you will have experience of conducting research and analysing and presenting the results. Either a member of or willing to join the Liberal Democrat Party, you will share the Liberal Democrat Party's aims and objectives. In addition you should have an understanding of the role, function and responsibilities of a local government authority.
NB This post is subject to a restriction under Section 9 of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989, which provides that the employment of the postholder must terminate before the day in the appropriate year in which the Authority hold the meeting which they are required to hold pursuant to the provisions of the Local Government Act 1972 namely the annual meeting of the Council. The post must therefore remain a fixed term post by means of the above legal requirements as a genuine business objective. Therefore a specific Local Agreement has been drawn up to provide continuous service to the postholder, who may subsequently be re-engaged.
