High Peak Liberal DemocratsAndrew Stunell MP is urging Stockport home-owners to get signed up to the Green Deal, which would see their energy costs drop and the value of their home rise, whilst doing their bit to save the planet at the same time.
New research has shown that making energy saving improvements to a home in Stockport could increase its value by over £10,000.

"Making your home more energy efficient will save you loads of money on bills, give you a snugger home, and according to this survey, mean its value goes up when you sell it. Under the Green Deal you don't even have to put any money up front to do the work. It's an absolute no-brainer!"
To encourage take up of the Green Deal the Government plans on opening 'Show Homes' across the country to demonstrate the benefits of going green.
Commenting, Andrew said -
"Opening Green Deal show homes is a great idea. We have a brilliant local example of an ultra-low energy home here in Stockport - the Marple Eco House, run by MESS. I wrote to the Energy Minister to draw his attention to this, as I think it'd be a perfect model to base all the other show homes on."
