“HAVE YOUR SAY ABOUT NUISANCE CALLS” says Stunell

July 15, 2013 4:27 PM

Andrew Stunell MP calls all Stockport residents fed up with nuisance calls to let the Government know about it.

The Culture, Media & Sport Committee have launched a parliamentary inquiry into nuisance phone calls and text messages and want to hear the public's views on this.

Commenting, Andrew said -

"We're all fed-up with nuisance calls, and now it's time to take action. I've had an amazing reaction to my online "No2nuisance calls" petition. I'm backing a Parliamentary Bill aimed at straightening things out, too. I am delighted that the Select Committee is starting work on the problem that the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) that is supposed to weed these calls out isn't up to the job."

"So there's two things for residents to do if you are as concerned as me - sign my petition, and also write in and tell the Select Committee whether TPS has worked for you in stopping nuisance calls, and if not, give the Committee chapter and verse on the number of calls you are still getting."

The inquiry will focus on the current regulatory system and its enforcement, the effectiveness of the Telephone Preference Service and communications service providers.

The Committee requests short written submissions in Word format to be sent by e-mail to cmsev@parliament.uk and should have "Nuisance calls" in the subject line.

Submissions to the Committee should be received by Thursday 15 August 2013.
