It would seem that if we want the north and midlands to expand economically we should be paying more attention to high speed broadband and less to high speed rail. HS2 is currently scheduled not to even stop in Derbyshire. Our businesses however require fast broadband to compete in a global market - not distant train services, however quick.
Roads, not trains that don't stop, can transform a place economically - but even here we have limited benefits from the M1 corridor.
A few LibDem voices saying this might help.
