Lib Dem East Midlands European Spokesperson Phil Knowles was the special guest at this week's celebration of the MORSBAGS.com Group in Market Harborough. A dedicated community group who make bags from donated and recycled materials which are given free of charge to the community, encouraging the use of the Morsbags rather than plastic carriers. In just three and a half years the group has produced 4000 of the reusable bags and are targeting 5000 as their next milestone.
Cllr Knowles warmly congratulated the group and thanked them for their contribution to the community. ''The group brings people together in the production of the bags, encourages involvement in the donation of fabrics and ultimately makes a positive contribution to the environment as the bag is reused time after time''
The group have also started a picture library of places where the Morsbags are used. The very special bag shown in the picture was presented to Phil Knowles and is now on its way to Brussels where it's hoped MEP Bill Newton Dunn will be pictured with the bag for the gallery and use it on a regular basis!
