High Peak Liberal DemocratsAndrew Stunell MP welcomed the latest job figures as 'great news'. In Hazel Grove constituency nearly 100 more people now have a job compared to a year ago. Over 50 new jobs have been created in the last month.
Commenting, Andrew said -
"This is excellent news. We have more jobs and more young people in apprenticeships than ever before. The take-up by Stockport companies of my 100 new apprentices in a 100 days challenge has been spectacular as well."
"The Reynold Chains closure in Bredbury is a harsh reminder that we still have to remain focussed on creating jobs and growing the economy. Jobs are the key building block in creating a stronger economy and fairer society that allows everyone to get on in life. That is why Liberal Democrats are working hard to promote job creation and why I'm encouraging local firms to take on apprentices and to look for opportunities to grow their business overseas."
The number of unemployed claimants in Hazel Grove constituency in September 2013 was 1,192, a rate of 3.1%, one of the best in Greater Manchester.
The number of local claimants is 96 lower than in September 2012 and 55 lower than in August 2013, according to the Office of National Statistics.
