High Peak Liberal DemocratsAndrew Stunell MP welcomed the news that crime has fallen by over 10% in Greater Manchester in the past year, according to the Office for National Statistics.
Commenting, Andrew Stunell said:
"The drop in the number of crimes is very welcome. It shows we are tackling crime better than at any time since 1981 and are providing better results for people than Labour ever did.
"People have the right to go about their daily lives without being scared of becoming victims of crime, and it is Liberal Democrats in the Coalition Government who are helping to make their lives safer."
Figures released this week by the Office for National Statistics show crime against households is down by seven per cent across the country compared with the same time last year and has hit the lowest level since the ONS record began in 1981.
Crime has been lower under the Coalition Government than during every single year Labour was in power - it has also halved since hitting peak levels in 1995.
