East Midlands Liberal Democrat Euro candidate Issan Ghazni spoke to Broxtowe Lib Dems about how to tackle the threat of UKIP in next May's European elections.

Speaking to activists in Bramcote, Nottingham, he stressed that Liberal Democrats should concentrate on getting out as much of our vote as humanly possible.

He said: "UKIP looks set to take more votes off Labour and the Conservatives so I don't think we should be overawed by them. Lib Dem supporters instinctively oppose much of what UKIP stands for so the challenge is making sure our vote gets to the polling station."

Why are you IN?

Speaking at the Broxtowe AGM, Ghazni said all the positive arguments on Europe were in our favour. "We just need to make the case on the doorsteps", he said.

Ghazni also spoke about the need to make full use of social media like Facebook and Twitter to spread our message.

Afterwards he chatted to local members over a wine and cheese buffet and argued that the "In Europe, In Work" message resonated with voters who realise how important Europe is to the British economy.
