High Peak Liberal DemocratsThe Cheadle constituency Liberal Democrats celebrated Burns Night in traditional style with a haggis supper, toasts of Scotch whisky and musical accompaniment from a piper.
Local MP Mark Hunter arranged for his colleague and friend John Thurso, MP for Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross, to be the guest of honour and to make the Immortal memory speech to poet Robert Burns.
Commenting after the event, Mark said:
'Events such as this are a great opportunity for the local Lib Dem supporters to get together and have a good time, while raising some money for the Party. Thanks to all those that helped to make the event such a success and special thanks to John for accepting our invitation and for entertaining us with such a warm and witty speech to the memory of Robbie Burns.'
