East Midlands Euro candidate Issan Ghazni appeared on the BBC on Sunday 2nd February where he argued that Eastern European migrants should be involved in the forthcoming elections.

The BBC Politics Show in the East Midlands showed Issan Ghazni visiting Eastern European businesses in the region where he spoke about the Liberal Democrats' support for the free movement of labour and trade across Europe.

You can watch the programme here. Segment starts on 38 minutes.

Issan Ghazni debated with two local Conservative and Labour politicians. He said that many Eastern Europeans were fearful about a "xenophobic" climate towards immigrants and did not realise they had a vote. But many were enthusiastic about the Lib Dems' positive message.

Issan Ghazni recently wrote about the topic on Lib Dem Voice. The story was picked up by the Daily Mail and Daily Telegraph.

Issan Ghazni told the BBC that the Lib Dems were targeting all voters but that it was important to not forget any particular communities, and that Central and Eastern Europeans had been ignored by many politicians.

Since the BBC broadcast, Ghazni reported that he had received many with phone calls from Central and Eastern European people offering support.

He is urging Lib Dems to target every community in the East Midlands to re-elect hardworking MEP Bill Newton-Dunn.
