High Peak Liberal DemocratsMark Hunter, MP for Cheadle, welcomed violinist Jennifer Pike to Parliament again this week as she took part in a special BBC Radio 3 performance at the House of Commons.
Jennifer is a professional violinist from Cheadle Hulme who is in demand in concert halls and recording studios around the world. She has performed as soloist with major orchestras worldwide, including the London Philharmonic, Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg, Brussels Philharmonic, Auckland Philharmonia, Vienna Symphony and is also scheduled to perform with the Hallé Orchestra later this year.
Mark originally met Jennifer and her parents back in 2002 when she became the youngest ever winner of the BBC Young Musician of the Year with her performance of the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto.
Commenting after the event, Mark said:
'It was a delight to meet with Jennifer and to hear her play once again after all these years. She was supremely talented when just twelve years old and is now, rightly in my opinion, recognised as one of the finest violinists of her generation. It is wonderful that such a musician calls Cheadle Hulme home, and is someone that our whole community should be immensely proud of.'
