New DWP statistics published today show that only 34,200 of the 220,300 disabled people making a Personal Independence Payment (PIP) claim have received a decision.
The new data covers the period from 8 April 2013, when PIP was introduced, up to 31 December 2013.
While 100% of special rules claims made by terminally ill people have led to an award in contrast only 37% of non-special rules claims have been succesful.
In addition, the new figures show a sharp decline in the proportion ofsuccesful PIP awards being made (from 88% in June 2013 to just 50% in December 2013).
