“IT’S EASY GOING GREEN IN CLIMATE WEEK” says Stunell

February 25, 2014 1:55 PM

Andrew Stunell MP is urging all Stockport residents to go green in Climate Week 3rd-9th March.

Commenting, Andrew said -

"If you want to cut your bills, keep cosy and save the planet, this is the week to start. And if the floods haven't convinced you yet, maybe your next energy bill will! There are loads of simple ideas that anyone can use, and the Climate Week website is full of them. It's never been easier to get started and to play your part in going green."

Lisa Smart, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Hazel Grove, said -

"We have much to be proud about in Stockport when it comes to doing our bit for the environment."

"We have Stockport Hydro generating power for the local community from twin turbines in the River Goyt, Marple. We have the Eco House in Marple, run by MESS - an energy saving community group, which generates its own energy, our Grove buses have gone green, and many Stockport households have installed solar panels to generate their own renewable energy or loft insulation to help bring down their energy bills."

"Stockport really is leading the way, but we can always do more, and in Climate Week it's even easier than usual. I really would encourage all Stockport residents to take a quick look at the Climate Week website which has lots of easy suggestions that we can do in our own home to do our bit."

Climate Week is Britain's biggest climate change campaign, inspiring a new wave of action to create a sustainable future. Culminating in a week of activities on 3-9 March 2014, it showcases practical solutions from every sector of society that help people live and work more sustainably.
