The Liberal Democrats have overwhelmingly voted to select local nurse and charity campaigner David Harding Price to challenge for the Lincoln Parliamentary seat in a meeting on Wednesday night.

David Harding PriceDavid, who has lived in Lincoln since his early childhood, currently lives with his wife in Uphill Lincoln with his grown up family close by. David is the Council Member for the Royal College of Nursing in the East Midlands which covers Lincoln and he co-founded the teenager cancer support charity, MattDotCom based in the city. David also has a regular music show on a local online radio station and he played in a local brass band.

David Harding Price said on his selection, "I am honoured to be given the chance to stand for Parliament in my home city of Lincoln and for the chance to represent my fellow residents.

"I feel Lincoln has long been neglected by its MPs who have had no previous connection to the city. Lincoln deserves someone who will fight for the city and its residents. We need an MP to whom Lincoln means something and to think positively about the city.

"Lincoln needs a stronger economy to help it through the recovery, but it also needs a fairer society to ensure the vulnerable are helped and protected. Neither the Conservatives or Labour who do that for Lincoln."

The Chair of the Lincolnshire Liberal Democrats, Cllr John Bishop welcomed the selection of David Harding Price, "David is an excellent choice for Lincoln. He is someone who has known Lincoln for a long time and has developed an understanding of the needs of local people, and he is not afraid to fight to their behalf. David Harding Price is the local choice to make sure Lincoln has its' voice in Parliament."
