STUNELL TAKES ON TRAINEE FROM PARLIAMENT’S FIRST APPRENTICE SCHOOL

March 6, 2014 2:40 PM

Andrew Stunell MP has pledged to take on a trainee from Parliament's first apprentice school, The Parliamentary Academy, which is launching its new Traineeship Scheme in National Apprenticeship Week, 3rd-9th March 2014.

Commenting, Andrew said -

"This new scheme is an important step in showing that anyone can work and gain the skills they will need to take on a job supporting the work of MPs and Parliament. It is designed for non-graduates who are ready to learn, coming from every background and life experience. It is intended to be a taster for a full-time apprenticeship, and I'm very much looking forward to my trainee starting work in my Westminster office shortly."

The Parliamentary Academy is launching a traineeship scheme in Parliament during National Apprenticeship Week. Traineeships are a new accredited programme to provide non-graduates with the necessary skills and experience to access full-time apprenticeships.

Trainees on the Parliamentary Academy programme will enrol on an intensive ten week programme, consisting of short work experience placements in an MP's office and classroom based training. At the end of this programme, trainees will receive valuable qualifications to help them progress into apprenticeships.

The scheme aims to help young people from more diverse backgrounds access careers in Parliament.
