High Peak Liberal Democrats
"Bob Crow was one of the most known and respected Union Leaders of our time who fought vigorously for the rights of his union members.
"Whether you agreed with his politics or not, you couldn't help but admire the way in which he forcefully presented his case.
"I last met Bob in 2003, as a Councillor, when he came to Leicester to support Leicester Hackney Carriage drivers against the way they had been mistreated over a decade by a Labour led authority.
"He didn't mince his words and was deeply sceptical of the local authority which had refused to licence a range of Hackney Carriage vehicles.
"Fortunately, in 2003 the newly elected Liberal Democrat led authority put an end to Labour's policies and brought in new policies to meet the needs of a range of disabled individuals, and in the process marking an end to many years of taxi driver demonstrations in the city."
