March 17, 2014 2:40 PM

Andrew Stunell MP invited Ciara Hogan, 18 year old from Romiley, to spend a day in Parliament last week as part of the Inspiring Change: Women in Parliament campaign.

Commenting, Andrew said -

"We need more women in Britain's top jobs, including in Parliament, and today has been about showing what it's really like behind the scenes, and I hope will encourage young women to aim high in future. I'm delighted Ciara came and had a chance to see for herself the work that goes on in Westminster."

Commenting on the day, Ciara said -

"I had a great day in Parliament getting the opportunity to spend the day seeing how important women are to Government. Speaking to MPs and Lords gave me an insight into the work of women but also how far women are yet to come."

"Today has given me the drive to see change in my lifetime and was overall an invaluable experience that I thoroughly enjoyed!"

Ciara spent the day in Parliament on the week leading up to International Women's Day which was on Saturday 8th March. More information on the campaign can be found via the following link - http://www.internationalwomensday.com/theme.asp
