High Peak Liberal DemocratsAndrew Stunell MP & Lisa Smart are switching off for Earth Hour on Saturday 29th March, 8:30pm and are urging Stockport to do the same.
On Saturday 29th March at 8:30pm WWF's Earth Hour will begin. Over 7,000 towns and cities from 150 countries around the world will be switching off their lights to do their bit for the planet.
Lisa Smart, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Hazel Grove, said -
"This will be a great opportunity for us to stop and think about the simple things we can do during the day to do our bit for the planet. All we need to do is flick the switch to join in and support this great campaign."
Commenting, Andrew Stunell MP said -
"WWF's Earth Hour is a simple idea that brings together millions of people across the globe who all care about one thing - our planet. In the UK, our energy system needs to change and I want wind, wave and solar power to be part of the future. If we are serious about shaping a better future for generations to come, then we need to act now."
"It'd be great if we could get as many Stopfordians as possible playing their part in saving the planet."
To find out more about WWF's Earth Hour and register to take part please go to http://earthhour.wwf.org.uk/about-wwfs-earth-hour and join millions of people who are signing up to the big switch off.
