High Peak Liberal Democrats
UK press reported today about Dutch MEP Toine Manders' call for the Commission to examine the idea of an EU number plate. The proposal however is mainly dealing with plans to make it easier for people to register vehicles in a different European country and to improve free movement around the continent as well as trade in cars. It will be voted next week in the European Parliament.Bill Newton Dunn, Liberal Democrat MEP for the East Midlands commented:
"Liberal Democrat MEPs do not support the idea of a common EU number plate. This isn't being proposed as EU law. The idea merely represents the view of one outspoken Dutch MEP.
"The actual new rules being voted on next week are supported by the UK government and will cut red tape by making it easier to transfer your vehicle from one EU country to another.
"It's good to see the Conservatives are finally entering the debate on Europe, but scaremongering over this non-issue shows they are running scared of UKIP and pushing us closer to the EU exit door.
"Only Liberal Democrats are fighting to protect the millions of British jobs linked to our EU membership."
The Liberal Democrats are the only party which is saying loud and clear that the UK must remain inside the EU - in order to keep Jobs and to exercise influence.
If you can, possibly, help us with the cost of the European election campaign, we would be exceedingly grateful.

What might you get in return? If Bill Newton Dunn is re-elected, support in reforming the EU to help your business.
And a rebuff for the ignorant populism of UKIP who want to destroy the millions of jobs which depend on our continuing membership of the EU.
