Local volunteers are the life of Cheadle’s British Heart Foundation store

Mark Hunter, MP for Cheadle constituency, has commended the dedication and work of local volunteers during a visit to the British Heart Foundation's (BHF) Cheadle store.

Following an event in Parliament where Mark worked at a BHF pop-up store to raise awareness of the charity's fund-raising for research into heart disease, he was invited to visit the Cheadle store again to meet with those that give their time to volunteer there.

BHF's Area Manager, Lisa Clarke, and shop manager, Christine Smith, welcomed Mark to the store and explained how they rely upon their volunteers and donations to raise tens of thousands of pounds every year which does towards cutting-edge research into heart disease.

Commenting after the visit, Mark said:

'I am really grateful to Lisa and Christine for inviting me to the store and introducing me to some of their fantastic volunteers - 32 local people in all give their time for free to raise money to combat heart disease. It is thanks to their dedication and residents' generous donations that makes this store such a success.

'I would urge everyone to pop into the BHF and other local charity stores during their shopping trips, and to consider making a donation for a great cause.'
